About US

In July 2018, the German Embassy at Dhaka and the German business community in Bangladesh jointly agreed to establish the German Business Council (GBC), a platform for the German businesses in Bangladesh. GBC is the result of the initiative taken by German private companies in Bangladesh and the aim of this group is not only to encourage investment and trade with Bangladesh but also to provide a social environment for business networking for the German companies. On 24th December, 2019 GBC was formally registered as a trust. This trust is being presently managed by five Board of Trustees representing key German businesses in Bangladesh. Embassy of Germany in Bangladesh officially affiliates this platform in Bangladesh. Contact Details View Detail

MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDING CHAIRMAN

It is indeed a great honor for me to welcome you to the official website of German Business Council (GBC). This website will give you a good overview of who we are, what we do and how GBC can help the German business entities.
GBC was the brainchild of The German Embassy, Dhaka and the German business community in Bangladesh. The main objectives of this group are to encourage German investment in and trade with Bangladesh as well as to provide a platform for business networking for the German companies. GBC was formally registered as a trust on 24th December 2019.
Germany is Bangladesh’s largest trading partner in Europe and the second largest globally. According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh’s exports to Germany amounted to $5.95 billion in fiscal 2020-21. Germany alone contributed 15 percent of the country’s total export earnings for the year. On the other hand, Germany’s export to Bangladesh was around $872 Million. Germany has, so far, invested over €560million in Bangladesh. These numbers explain how important the trade relationship between Germany and Bangladesh is.
The member companies of GBC take pride to be a part of this rising business relationship between the two countries. We believe by partnering with the key stakeholders GBC would be able to support its members to run their operations in a conducive business environment. We are also committed to extend our wholehearted support to the incoming German companies who want to step into Bangladesh – a country of massive business opportunities.
